In Loving Memory of Jerry Berg 5/15/1942 - 3/21/2023
Jerry was my co-host on the “Conquering Your Pain” live call-in radio show which aired up until late last year. Jerry was the consummate professional radio announcer and ever dedicated to his craft. I truly loved doing the show with him. I believe our on-air rapport was obvious to our listeners. Jerry knew that I “got” him including his sometimes offbeat “dad” humor.
Typically, at the start of each broadcast, I would get a few little butterflies just as our intro “bumper music” would come on. Then I would see his calm demeanor with his homespun friendly voice coming through my headset including the usual “Hello, Dr. Dan . . .“ which would immediately dispel any nervousness on my part.
Over the years, Jerry’s passion for helping our call-in listeners became remarkable. We would often stay for an extra 30-40 minutes after the broadcast reaching out to callers in the queue that we couldn’t get to before running out of airtime.
As a young man Jerry played semipro hockey, and also saw success in business but his true passion was radio, which became a career spanning five decades. He loved his God, his country, his family, and his Seahawks. He also had a heart for veterans and people in the service of our country.
I will miss you, my good friend. I will proudly wear the “In God We Trust” wristband that you gave to me, and to many others, and will fondly recall our times together, both “on air” and off.
